Art enables man to comprehend reality, and not only helps him to bear it but
increases his determination to make it more human and worthy of humankind.

“If we do not see it, do we believe it? Art can reveal truths in a way that might not otherwise be seen and embraced. The majesty of our environment may sometimes be missed while the destruction of nature may also sometimes seem insignificant. But we are all connected, like the roots of trees, the stream of water, we grow together, we live together and die together. We must see it all to believe it, to appreciate it, to discover it and to nourish it. My art layers the trees and waterfalls, streams and sunlight with the human spirit and form, so that we might appreciate this interconnectedness. My process is as layered as my concept. Using archival digital photographs, encaustic paints, sometimes wood and fiberglass, my art works can be two or three dimensional. It all seeks to visualize and remind us that we are our environment”. Gail Gelburd

The work of art has been compared to the opening of a window out on the world
We can stand and stare out of that window or we can go beyond the immediate view to understand why and how we see what is there.

The context in which the idea of an art work was conceived, is made perceptible by its form. They are each inseparable, and together have the potential to transform our world.
